Our gatherings provide an opportunity for interaction with fellow office professionals from all College departments. The basic concept of friendship is the glue that holds our group together - but there is so much more.
B-OP has six business meetings, generally held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in September, November, December, February, April and May. These gatherings include brief business meetings and feature programs that challenge, teach or entertain us. We learn about campus departments, projects and student needs. Informal Noon-time social luncheons are held in June and July.
Our concessions stand at the Scripps Spelling Bee each March finances an annual B-OP Student Scholarship. The popular Cake & Cookie Project serves both as a student project and a secondary fundraiser throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. B-OP has two group projects a year, one in the autumn and one in the spring.
All of us are busy people with limited time to offer B-OP. No one is expected to attend every meeting and participate in every event. We each participate at our own level, based upon work schedules, interest and availability. We believe that "The strength of the team is each individual member...the strength of each member is the team."
As you can see, BARTON OFFICE PROFESSIONALS is the premier campus organization for hard working, fun loving, college-serving education support personnel. Our group includes and welcomes all exempt and non-exempt Barton employees, including supervisors, whose primary work assignments are non-instructional. If this sounds good to you, please join us!
