Barton Foundation honors Lee Turner with Distinguished Service Award

The Barton Community College Foundation presented the 2012 Distinguished Service Award posthumously to H. Lee Turner during Barton’s 42nd commencement May 10. Turner’s wife Betsy and daughter Stephanie accepted the award on his behalf.

Anna Voss of Hays and Devan Boeger of Great Bend were named Barton Community College’s 2012 Outstanding Graduates. Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy introduced them and presented their awards after which, they took the opportunity to address their fellow graduates during the college’s 42nd commencement ceremony Thursday.

Barton Community College has announced its 2011-12 Brant J. Ballhorst Student Ambassadors of the Year. Named in memory of Brant J. Ballhorst, the award recognizes two outstanding student ambassadors, Karisa Kaiser and Reba Hickel, both of Hoisington, Kan.

West Virginia couple completes degrees online, treks to Barton for graduation

Wearing a smile a mile wide, Tara Webb of West Virginia strides across the stage and accepts her diploma in front of hundreds of other Barton Community College graduates.
For many of her peers, it was the last time they set foot on Barton’s campus, or even within the Kansas border. For Tara, and her fellow-graduate and husband Bryan, however, it was the first time they found themselves on campus since they began taking classes a few years ago.

Part-time Mathematics Instructor Jann Sherman and full-time Networking Instructor Howard Pastran were chosen to receive the Distinguished Instructor Awards for the 2011-12 school year during the 42nd annual commencement ceremony Thursday evening.
