Art


The theory behind Barton Community College’s Art Program is a simple one — foster your creativity by developing an awareness of the visual arts. We guide and challenge you to develop your unique artistic abilities and personal style. You’ll be exposed to two- and three-dimensional art in a variety of media and styles. To do this, we stress a solid foundation in design principles and technical skills, preparing you to pursue a career right after Barton, enter a university art program or enroll in a professional art school.

The demand for creative minds in our society is greater than ever, and the notion that a career in art leads only to teaching is a thing of the past. There is a place for a creative individual like you.

You can choose to specialize in graphic design, education, photography, ceramics, painting, drawing, interior design or sculpture in programs designed to prepare you to transfer to a four-year college or art institute.

Regardless of which way you go, Barton offers you an affordable, quality jump on your educational or professional goals. Scholarships and departmental awards are also available.
