Barton offers a Variety of Early Childhood Education Plans
Responding to the growing demand for qualified child care providers and educators in Kansas and across the country, Barton Community College is offering a wide variety of courses (traditional, hybrid, summer, and short-term) in Early Childhood Education on the Barton County campus or 100% online.
The Early Childhood courses are a combination of lecture and "hands-on" learning with the development of a variety of themed units, projects and materials. Courses help students prepare for their career field and placement in Early Childhood classrooms.
The online Early Childhood program offers a combination of 9 or 17 week sessions, as well as, summer sessions to fit your schedule. All online instructors have a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or related field of expertise. Please take a look at the following webpage for degree plans and semester templates. http://earlychildhood.bartonccc.edu
At Barton, you may choose from 2 certificate programs, Infant and Toddler Education & Care or Preschool Education, each are 22 credit hours. Both certificates allow students to earn their CDA in Infant/Toddler, Preschool, Home Visiting or Family Childcare. Students may also choose an AAS degree in Early Childhood or an AS degree planning to transfer on to a 4 year university. Barton has transfer agreements with Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University and Southwestern which enables you to receive an Early Childhood Unified degree.
Barton’s Early Childhood Education program offers scholarship opportunities for students through the Early Childhood Associate Apprenticeship Program (ECAAP) and TEACH. The ECAAP program utilizes registered apprenticeship in order for students to earn their CDA and help early care and education providers create high-quality learning environments for young Kansans.
