STUDENTS: The Shafer Gallery will be accepting submissions for the College Student Juried Art Exhibit  March 26-28, from 9 am to 5 pm.  Exhibit opens April 1.  Don't forget to prepare your entries, download and sign your gallery documents.

FEBRUARY, 2012

The VORTEX High School Art Exhibit is open from February 26 through March 15 at the Shafer Gallery.  Check out the sampling of student works and even better yet -  visit the gallery.

JANUARY, 2012

Carol Long, who owns and operates  CAROL LONG POTTERY has hired Mark and Bambi Freeman as apprentices.  Mark and Bambi were art majors a few years ago here at Barton Community College. Upon graduation Mark attended Fort Hays University as did Bambi. Mark majored in ceramics at Fort hays.  Carol Long says, "Mark Freeman and Bambi Freeman are apprenticing with Carol Long Pottery.  I am thrilled with the new energy and looking forward to new venues."  Follow this link CAROL LONG POTTERY to see Carol Long's Ceramic Art work.

Barton Community College to present concert and lecture featuring Grammy and Emmy nominated Native American performer John Two-Hawks at Crest Theatre

In conjunction with the Shafer Gallery’s current exhibit, “Native Witness: Indians in the Shafer,” Barton will present a free lecture and American Indian flute concert by Grammy and Emmy award nominated Native American performer John Two-Hawks.  The lecture will be at 2 p.m. and the concert will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 at the Crest Theatre, 1905 Lakin St., Great Bend.  The Great Bend Tribune is co-sponsoring the event.
